Ernest Joseph "Butch" Neissl Sr., delivered by his grandfather, Dr. W.M. Neissl, Sr., was born November 25th, 1918 in Charleston, Arkansas to the late Hans Joseph Neissl & Ruth Anne (Foster-Minden) Neissl, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Ernest was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years,, Theresa Lee (Gann) Neissl; five brothers, Harold, Hans Edward (Tuts), Billy Paul and wife Norma Dean, Robert and wife Dorothy, and Joe Allen Neissl; one sister, Elphie Mae; one brother-in-law, Joe Price; one niece, Alena Marie (Price) Porter; one son-in-law, Michael J. Wilhelm; and one granddaughter-in-law, Laurie (Logsdon)Wilhelm.
Ernest was an active lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Charleston High School. Ernest was a World War II Army veteran, serving thirty six months in North Africa. After military service, he was a civil service employee at Fort Chaffee, positions included meat foreman and Entomologist. He was a life member of the VFW, Amercan Legion, Knights of Columbus, charter member of the Charleston Riding Club, lifetime butcher, meat cutter and horse and cattle rancher, avid sportsman, and loved his family and friends.
Rosary service will be 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21st, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston.
Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 22nd, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. Burial with "Military Honors" will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
Ernest is survived by his daughters, Barbara Ruth Willhelm of Berryville, Arkansas & Mary Theresa Kendall and husband Richard of Leavenworth, Kansas; his son, Ernest J. (E.J.) Neissl, Jr. and wife Kelly of Charleston; his sister-in-law, Levena Sue Neissl of Charleston; (13)grandchildren, Andrew, Hans, Dr. Paul, Rosalee, & Tobias Wilhelm, Brian & Jason Strickland, Cory, Rich, Raymond, & Nicholas Kendall, and Lindsey (Neissl) McConnell & Ethan Neissl; (20) great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Neissl, Paul Neissl, Bobby Lee Neissl, Shawn Lovett, Gary Smith, and Raymond Kendall.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Andrew J., Hans M., and Dr. Paul G. Neissl, Rosalee & Tobias J. Wilhelm, Brian & Jason Strickland, Cory, Rich, Raymond, & Nicholas Kendall,and Lindsey (Neissl) McConnell & Ethan Neissl, and nephew-in-law, Jerry (Tudy) Loughridge.
Family will visit with friends following the rosary service Sunday night at the funeral home.
