Obituary

Emma Jean Eiland, who resided near Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. She was born on February 16, 1931, in Lavaca, Arkansas, to the late M.T. Hunter and Leona Mae (Roden) Hunter. She was 91 years old. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Eiland, three brothers, and two sisters.

Emma married William Jesse Eiland on July 1, 1949. She was a retired inspector for over 291/2 years at Gerber Products Company in Fort Smith. Emma loved to go shopping, and along with her husband Bill, loved to go camping, crappie fishing, and trotline fishing. Emma was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Charleston.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 25th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Pastor Jeff Holland and Bro. Richard Shotzman officiating. Burial will follow at Mayberry Cemetery in Central City, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, William J. "Bill" Eiland; a daughter, Rita Johnson and husband Stephen of Greenwood; two sons, Billy Eiland of Charleston and Jimmy Eiland and wife Monica of Fort Smith; a sister, Shirley Mantooth of Caulksville; a brother, Joe Hunter and wife Nola of Lavaca; (8) grandchildren, (15) great-grandchildren, and (2) great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Paul Eiland, Thad Eiland, Josh Eiland, Evan Eiland, Dalton Johnson, and Ashton Chronister.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
