Elwanda Jones, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 in Greenwood, Arkansas at the age of 90.
She was born September 7, 1921 in Bloomer, Arkansas to the late Almo Franklin Ward and Laura Alice (Moore) Ward. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul; one daughter, Nancy; and six siblings.
She had lived in Sebastian County her entire life. Elwanda lived in Methodist Village in Fort Smith until 15 months ago and due to ailing health, she was a resident of Pink Bud Nursing Home. She loved living in the village and had many friends there. The staff at Pink Bud were loved and became like family to her. Elwanda was chosen "Ms. Pink Bud" 2011.
She was a retired chef and member of First Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21st at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Rev. J.M. Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery near Greenwood, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by her children, Paula Hutchins and husband J.C. of Lavaca, Mac Jones and wife Kathy of Greenwood, Susan McCorkle and husband Bill of Central City; her brother Roger Ward of Fort Smith and sister Dorothy Been of Greenwood; five grandchildren and spouses, Tammy and Archie Frye, Greg Hutchins, Lori and Andy Pipkins, Dorie and Jeff Littlefield, and Tim and Amber McCorkle; six great grandchildren, Trey and Tyler Gray, Macae Pipkins, Parker Littlefield, Morgan McCorkle, and Brittany Frye.
Pallbearers will be Mac Jones, Greg Hutchins, Tim McCorkle, Trey Gray, and Tyler Gray.
The family will visit with family and friends before the service.
