Eberhart J. Koch, Jr., better known as "Jute", passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Johnson County Health & Rehab Center in Clarksville, Arkansas. He was born on June 22, 1930, in the Shoal Creek Township in Logan County, to the late Eberhart J. Koch, Sr. and Gertrude (Tencleve) Koch. He was 94 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bernard Koch, Bob Koch, Basil Koch, Tom Koch, and Sylvan Koch; two sisters, Geneva (Koch) Willems and Mary Jane (Koch) Wewers; and a daughter-in-law, Jayme (Wood) Koch, late wife of Darrel Koch.
Jute served in the U.S. Army. He was a cattle farmer, member of American Legion Post 258 in Scranton, Knights of Columbus, and faithful member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church near New Blaine. Jute loved going fishing and the game of baseball. He was an outstanding baseball player, playing for the Scranton Merchants and American Legion baseball. Before Jute was married, he was asked to play for the Philadelphia Phillies, but did not play. He loved his family very much and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 16th at St. Scholastica Catholic Church.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 17th at St. Scholastica Catholic Church, with Fr. Mark Stengel, OSB officiating. Burial will follow, with military honors, at St. Scholastica Cemetery, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Aileen (Stengel) Koch; his children, Janelle Stall and husband Ken of Clarksville, Evelyn Huck and husband Alvin of Tontitown, Kevin Koch and wife Shari of Scranton, Laura Huck and husband Randy of Tontitown, Darrel Koch of New Blaine, and Diane Koch of Tontitown; two sisters, Loretta Koch of Fort Smith and Emily (Koch) Ray of Fort Smith; a brother, Gilbert Koch and wife Doris of Fort Smith; (13) grandchildren, Derek Koch, Alexandria (Huck) Ross, Daniel Huck, Angela (Stall) Jones, Lucas Koch, Mitchell Huck, Nicholas Huck, Lydia Huck, Bradley Stall, Catherine (Huck) Anderson, Rachel Stall, Alanna Koch, and Matthew Huck; and (10) great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Daniel Huck, Nicholas Huck, Mitchell Huck, Matthew Huck, Lucas Koch, and Bradley Stall.
Honorary pallbearer is Derek Koch.
