Obituary

Dwight L. Cole, who resided in the Coles Chapel Community, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born July 8, 1922 in Franklin County to the late Conrad C. Cole and Clara (Whitman) Cole. He was 90 years old. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie; and one brother, Jonathan "Sonny" Cole.

Dwight was a retired dairy farmer. He was an Army veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day. He was a member of the 479th Amphibious Truck Company 1st Engineer Special Brigade, American Legion Post #8. He was a member, song director, and served in various roles at Coles
Chapel Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24th, at Coles Chapel Methodist Church, with Rev. Jim Brooks and Bill Mainer officiating. Burial "With Military Honors" will be at Coles Chapel Cemetery, located south of Branch on Hwy.41, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

He is survived by two sons, Terry Cole and wife Jodi of Dardanelle and Eddie Cole and wife Cindy of the Coles Chapel Community; one sister, Melba Ruth Fisher of Iowa City, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Clay Cole, Jyme Beth Diffee, Carrie Couthren, Cassie Cole, Audra Coffman, Hailey Morrow, and Rachel Cole; fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Clay Cole, Jermiah Diffee, Lance Coffman, Justin Couthren, Trey Couthren, Hunter White, David Cole, and Jonathan Chambers.

Family will visit with friends 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral in Charleston.
