Dudley Allen Smoots

Dudley Allen Smoots, 71, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Van Buren Health and Rehabilitation. He was born on August 6, 1955, in Rural Prairie, Missouri, in Jackson County, to the late Edward Allen Smoots and Roberta Lee (Faust) Smoots. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Smoots of California; his mother, Roberta Smoots of Springdale; two sisters, Charlotte Sisco of Lincoln, Arkansas, and Rita Mae Ahle of Springdale; a brother, Johnny Smoots of Springdale; a grandson, Jayce James Smoot-Gurley; and a granddaughter, Emmalin Kay Lindsey.

Dudley proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. After being honorably discharged, he started driving an 18 wheeler hauling cars. He did this for many years before relocating to Arkansas and started working at Tyson Mexican Original. Dudley enjoyed watching almost all sports but loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs play football. He loved visiting with his kids and playing with his grandkids.

A memorial graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10th at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is survived by his three daughters, Patience Smoots and daughter-in-law, Bonilea Gurley, Priscilla Rogers and son-in-law, Chris, and Ann Lindsey and son-in-law, Robert; and a son, Allen Scott Ross; seven grandchildren, Calopy, Avery, and Onyx Smoots-Gurley, Gavin and Hayley Robinson, and Alexis and Bo Lindsey.
