Douglas Richard Smith, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in Fort Smith. He was born on June 27, 1945, in Rensselaer, Indiana, to the late Richard Earl Smith and Shirley (Green) Smith. He was 76 years old.

Doug was a retired produce truck driver, a member of Vesta Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion Post 8 in Charleston, and American Legion Post District 16, and served in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his companion, Rufina Marie Binz of Charleston; three sons, Jason Douglas Smith of Indiana, Rick Arthur Smith of Indiana, and Douglas Carl Jaro of Siloam Springs; a daughter, Janel Shur of Indiana; four sisters, Elaine English, Kathy Smith, Deborah Meehan, and Linda; and several grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
