Obituary

Douglas Ray Mainer, who resided near Branch, Arkansas, died Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on July 23, 1958, in Paris, Arkansas, to the late Raymond Wesley Mainer and Elizabeth Ann (Hawkins) Mainer. He was 66 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Betty Mainer.

Doug was a 1976 graduate of County Line High School. For many years, along side with his dad Raymond, was owner and operator of Mainer Construction Company. Doug was an avid hunter, especially deer hunting, and his favorite deer stand was from the cab of his pickup truck drinking a cold Dr. Pepper. He always had a fast car or motorcycle and he loved being on the road. He never passed up a good race or a chance for a burn out. He lived his life how he wanted, no fear and no rules. He loved his family and was so proud of his kids and grandkids. He had many friends and everyone always had a story about Doug. He had many friends and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 27th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Bill VanMeter officiating. Burial will follow at Hampton Cemetery, located north of Branch, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by a daughter, Christie Whitson and husband Alan of Branch; a son, Clint Mainer and wife Kendra of Ozark; a sister, Cindy Hendren and husband Brad of Lavaca; a brother, Donnie Mainer of Paris; and three grandchildren, Kaylee Whitson, Jake Mainer and Ryan Mainer.

Pallbearers are Kevin Hibbs, Alan Bennett, Jimmy Kinney, Dean Conner, Terry Hice, and Tommy Chambers.

Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Hice, Jim McCartney and Mike Bangs.

The family will visit with friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
