Obituary

Doris Ann Strovers of Charleston, Arkansas, formerly of Sully, Iowa, died Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was born on May 16, 1932, in Newton, Iowa, to the late Earl Clement and Elsa Swanson Clement. She was 91 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester Roy Strovers, Jr.;  and two sisters.

Doris married Lester Strovers, Jr. on November 16, 1952, and resided in the Kellogg and Sully area for many years, moving to the Des Moines area in 1995, and to Arkansas in 2018. For 25 years, she was employed by Lynnville-Sully Schools in Sully, Iowa, as a bus driver and then custodian before retiring in 1994. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, baking goodies, and doing word puzzles. She loved her family very much and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton, Iowa. Family will be available for greeting prior to the service at the gravesite.

She is survived by her son, Dean Strovers and wife Carol of Red Oak, Iowa; two daughters, Jacki Strovers of Lavaca, Arkansas, and Jodi Arment and husband Jeff of Cecil, Arkansas; a sister, Phyllis Cavitt of Newton, Iowa; her grandchildren, Eric Strovers and his girlfriend Jodi Dierks of Omaha, Nebraska, Colten Arment and wife Baylei of Washington, and Katie Arment of Grinnell; and her great-grandkids, Jon and Anna Strovers.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
