September 8, 1925 – September 21, 2009
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Davis Ward Pritchett; one daughter, Lisbeth Mills and one granddaughter, Elaine Smith.
Doris was raised in Denison, Texas. She met Davis Ward Pritchett on July 4th, 1944 and married on September 28th, 1944 and had four children, Davis W. Jr., Byron "Barney", Lisbeth and Laura K.. They lived in such places as Tampa, Florida, Denison and Galveston, Texas, before settling in Charleston.
Doris has resided in Charleston since 1962. She was a retired heavy press operator for the Trane Company in Fort Smith, member of the United Auto Worker's, and was of the Baptist faith. She was a Breast Cancer Survivor of 17 years who loved life. She loved being outside, especially when she was mowing on her riding mower. She never met anyone she thought didn't need a hug. She loved hanging out with younger people and loved going to Little Rock to hang out with her daughter Laura and her friends. She also loved her beloved lap dog, Mattie.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24th, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Bill Van Meter officiating. Interment will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by one daughter, Laura K. Pritchett and partner, Paige Cline, of Maumelle; two sons, Davis W. Pritchett, Jr. & wife Janet, of Greenwood and Barney Pritchett & wife Rhonda of Charleston; one sister, Wanitha Terrell of Little Rock; two brothers, Lester Dale Scally of Sherman, Texas and James Harry Scally of Denison, Texas; sisters-in-law, Bessie Hewitt of Charleston and Frances Brown of Hot Springs; five grandchildren, Heather,Byron, James, Nathan and Barry and four great grandchildren.
Pall Bearers will be Byron and Barry Pritchett, Nathan Mills, Tim and Byron T. Scally and Jason Cerchie.
Family visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home.
