Doris Jean Moore resided at Charleston, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, October 19, 2008, in a Fort Smith Hospital. She was born March 6, 1930, in Checotah, Oklahoma, to the late Floyd Frazier and Eliza Storm Frazier. She was 78 years old.
She was a 1947 graduate of Fort Smith High School. After graduation, she went to work at the Fort Smith Stockyard as a bookkeeper, and the following year she was crowned the first Rodeo Queen at Harper Stadium. She worked at the stockyard until 1957, at which time she became employed by American State Bank in Charleston. She retired as Assistant Vice President in 1985. She was married to J.C. for 59 years and 7 months. Her favorite pastime was watching her grandchildren play sports over the years. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Charleston. She had a deep faith in God and an unwavering devotion to her family.
She is survived by her husband, J.C. Moore, of the home; one daughter, Debra Flynn & husband Mike of Charleston; one son, Jim Moore & wife Melissa of Charleston; five grandchildren, Cody Flynn & wife Michele, Morgan, Chelsea, and Clint Moore, all of Charleston, and Rebel Wilson & husband Mark of Jacksonville, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Madelyn Flynn of Charleston, and Storm Wilson of Jacksonville; one sister, Faye Hardgrave of Fort Smith, and a sister-in-law, Margie Hiatt and husband Joe of Charleston. She is preceded in death by one sister, Irene Edwards; two brothers, Raymond and Bill Frazier, and one great-grandchild, Medley Wilson.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Charleston, with burial at Parks Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
Pall Bearers will be Cody Flynn, Mark Wilson, Clint Moore, Dylan Flynn, Sherman Hiatt, Clay Hiatt, Trey Gage, and Butch Hardgrave.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Norma Hiatt, Bettye King, Betty Holland, Doyce Hales, Dolores Boyd, Allen Hales, Jimmy Patterson, Todd Patterson and Nelson Barton.
The family will visit with friends Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Charleston.
