Darwin Lee "Doc" Carson of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at his residence. He was born on August 22, 1941, in the Auburn Community on Fort Chaffee, to the late Fred W. Carson and Mary Louise (Stewart) Carson. He was 81 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Lori Dawn.
Doc was a retired truck driver. He drove for Miller Drilling Company, Maverick Transportation, Inc., and West-Ark Sod. He was a 1959 graduate of Mansfield High School, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era, and a member of the Million Mile Club.
A memorial graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11th at Dayton Cemetery in Huntington, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Joy (Jones) Carson; two daughters, Marla Miller of Fort Smith and Vicki Warren and husband John of Fort Smith; a son, Brent Carson and wife Amy of Dayton; a sister, Freda Parker of Mansfield; a brother, Gene Carson and wife Sheila of Branch; five grandchildren, Zak Miller, Shaylee Warren, Cody Carson, Austin Warren, and Bailey Elmore; and six great-grandchildren, Karoline, Connor, and Amelia Carson, Olyvia Elmore, Jackson Tomlinson, and Graedyn Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Beshoner and Bobby Jay.
