Deward C. "Doc" Whitman resided in Caulksville, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was born April 2, 1927 in the Shaver Community in Logan County to the late Mose Mercer Whitman and Grace Pink (Barnard) Whitman. He was 83 years old.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Law and Roe Whitman; three brothers, Buel, Hoyt, and Floyd Whitman and two nephews, Ross Whitman and Buddy Law.
Doc was a retired aircraft worker for McDonnell-Douglas Boeing in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was a member of the Shaver Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1st, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with the Rev. Vondal Davenport officiating. Interment will be at the Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
He is survived by his nieces, Tana Kirchner, Sue Chastain, and Dee Reames and families; nephews, Ashley, Duane, Mickey, and Benny Whitman and families and sister-in-law, Corene Dicks.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.
Family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. until funeral hour on Saturday, May 1st.
