Obituary

Dennis Terry, 70, of Scranton, Arkansas (formerly of Kansas City), hung up his fishing pole for the last time on April 27, 2025, and headed off on his next great adventure. Born on February 12, 1955, to Albert "Sonny" Terry and Betty Lou (Brown) Terry. Dennis lived a life full of grit, heart, and a healthy dose of good-natured teasing.

Dennis married the love of his life, Nancy (Faith) Terry, and together they shared 50 years of love, laughter, and a whole lot of memories. He was a proud dad and a beaming grandpa. His family was his pride and joy, and he loved nothing more than sharing the secrets of the garage or the art of float fishing with his grandsons.

Before moving to Arkansas, Dennis could be found at the bowling alley, on the softball field playing weekends with his high school buddies for Alham in Kansas City, or just cheering on his favorite teams - the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. Even after losing his leg to cancer, Dennis never lost his spirit. He became the biggest supporter, cheering louder than anyone for his kids, grandkids, and the local Scranton Rockets, and even watching the boys club games from his front porch.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Terry. He is survived by his wife Nancy; his son, Josh Terry and wife Christy of Scranton and daughter, Danielle Reyes and husband Jiovanny of Scranton; his grandchildren, Joshlyn Terry, Kenton "Buddy" Terry and wife Jennifer, Carter Hanks, and Urijah Terry; his sisters, Jeanette Gilmore and Dwan Terry; a brother, Steven Terry; and a whole crew of nieces, nephews, and extended family. His great-nephew Ian will surely miss Dennis's jokes and after-school teasing sessions.

Dennis was a man who met life's challenges head-on with strength, perseverance, and a mischievous grin. Whether it was a tackle box in hand, a garage project underway, or just a chair at a ball game, Dennis always found a way to show up for the people he loved.

He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, tough love, and big-hearted laughter. Dennis Terry will be deeply missed and fondly remembered - everytime a fish bites, a lawn is mowed, or a joke is cracked just a little too loud at the dinner table.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 1st at First Baptist Church in Scranton, with Rev. Colby Hankins officiating. Cremation will follow after the service. All services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
