James Delmer Dodd of Charleston, Arkansas, died Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on September 15, 1942, in Buford, Georgia, to the late Jarius J. Dodd and Ophie Mae (Disharoon) Dodd. He was 83 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Louellen (Harrison) Dodd; three sisters, Elsie May Day, Evelyn Crane, and Paulene Lane; and a brother, Jerry Dodd.

Delmer retired from Alcan Cable in Georgia.

He is survived by two sons, Tim Dodd and wife Kathleen of Charleston and Tom Dodd and wife Collette of Flowery Branch, Georgia; a sister, Jane Palmer and husband Adam of Jackson, Tennessee; two brothers, Kenneth Dodd and wife Kay of Athens, Georgia, and Wayman Dodd and wife Livie of Carnesville, Georgia; (5) grandchildren, Eli Dodd and wife Arianna, Samantha Dodd and husband Dustin Norwood; Katy Dodd and husband Jared Channing, Henry Dodd, and Roxanne Dodd; and three great-grandchildren, Emmalee, Aaron and Rhett.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
