Dawn Elizabeth Helms of Arkoma, Oklahoma, died Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Baptist Health Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on September 16, 1962, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to the late Glenn Z. Lock and Arvilla L. Schopp. She was 60 years old. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Vicki Walker.

She is survived by a daughter, Julia Sockey of Spiro, Oklahoma; two sons, David Horn of Fort Smith and Eric Helms of Pocola, Oklahoma; two sisters, Kathi Carter and husband Barret of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Jean Olivares and husband Eugene of Saginaw, Michigan; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her life-long friend, Barbara "Chicky" Lara.
