David Leon Wood, who resided in Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas with his family by his side. Born in San Antonio Texas on December 19, 1957. The son of the late Gilbert Leon Wood and Billie Jean (Medlock) Wood. David graduated from Claremore High School with the class of 1976. David met his wife Frankaleen and married in 1978 in Claremore, Oklahoma. David and Frankaleen had two children, Felicia and Anthony.
David provided for his family. For the past 35 years, David was employed with Sam's Club/Walmart. David looked forward to and enjoyed going to work every day. Rain, sleet or Shine David would be there.
David was a Boy Scouts leader and was the youngest scout to have achieved the Eagle Scout rank for Troop 88 in Claremore, Oklahoma.
David was known for his good sense of humor, wittiness and making people smile. David was known for his good heart. He was always willing to help people anyway he could. Fixing things for people gave David happiness. David's actions spoke louder than words.
The important things in David's life was his relationship with God and his family. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and a lover of all things outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with his grandsons and attending their band/choir and sporting events.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Tony Bias officiating. Cremation will follow after the service. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of almost 37 years, Frankaleen (Harrison) Wood; one daughter, Felicia McLeod and husband Michael of Booneville; one son, Anthony Wood and wife Bessie of Lavaca; one brother, Eddie Wood and wife Connie of Claremore, Oklahoma; four grandsons, Dustin, Dakota, Dalton, and Landen; three step-grandchildren, Chris, Nathan, and Kayla; five step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home in Charleston.
