David Scott Vandever, who resided near Paris, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 3, 2023, from a motorcycle accident near Lavaca, Arkansas. He was born on September 6, 1988, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to David Wayne Vandever and Shanna Sue (Yancy) Vandever, He was almost 35 years old. He was preceded in death by his father, David Wayne Vandever.
Scott was a site overseer for Ameredev, based in Austin, Texas. He served 8 years in the U.S. Army Reserves and National Guard and was an Iraq War veteran. He loved hunting and fishing, especially fishing, and he loved his family very much. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, September 8th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Brad Stovall and Bro. Tim Sullivan officiating. Burial of cremains, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Dezeree (Walker) Vandever; his children, Jazmine Cibik, Cheyenne Vandever, Laci Cibik, Linzie Vandever, Bayleigh Vandever, Kaylie Cartmell, Adelyn Vandever, and Wyatt Vandever; his mother, Shanna Vandever of Red Oak, Oklahoma; his sister, Emma Guiterez and husband Juan of Wichita Falls, Texas; his brother, Kevin Vandever of Red Oak, Oklahoma; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Vandever of San Antonio, Texas; his maternal grandfather, Doc Yancy and wife Betty of Blanchard, Oklahoma; and his maternal great-grandmother, Emma Ray of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
