David Paden Van Meter, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born October 31, 1950, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and lovingly adopted by Harry and Bonnie Van Meter. He graduated in 1968 from Perkins High School in Sandusky, Ohio. He grew up attending Trinity United Methodist Church inSandusky. He worked at Cedar Point selling popcorn until enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was a proud veteran serving in Vietnam for two of his four years. He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor's Degree in journalism. He settled in Fort Smith after living various areas in the U.S. He enjoyed the weather in the south, and lived there until his passing. David was an avid reader, and loved spending time on his computer. He was so excited just recently upgrading his technical equipment. He enjoyed crocheting, creating many scarves and afghans for family and friends.
David is survived by his brother, Brian Van Meter of Huron, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Sharon Van Meter.
Whenever David said good bye, he always said "Take care, and God Bless."
Per his request, he will be cremated and buried at the Fort Smith Arkansas National Cemetery. Brotherton Brothers Cremation Services of Fort Smith is handling the arrangements.
