David Fredrick Stephens

David Fredrick Stephens, 72, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Fort Smith. He was born on December 17, 1953, in Tucson, Arizona, to his parents, Billy Fred Titsworth and Rebecca Titsworth-Stephens. Later adopted by Jimmie D. Stephens after Billy Fred’s death.

David graduated from Paris High School in 1971, where he was a drummer in the Paris High School Marching Band. David was a retired car salesman,  and making jokes and teasing people were among his favorite things to do. He loved his family deeply and never met a stranger. His smile and laugh could light a room. He loved music and concerts and living a peaceful life on the mountain.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with Bro. Ervin Petty officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Mary Morrow.

He is survived by his children: two daughters, Lucretia Birkner of Fort Smith and Sarah Caldwell and husband Travis of Lamar; a son, Chris Stephens and wife Candas of Scranton; one brother, Jim Stephens and partner Vickie Hayward of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister, Beverly (Stephens) Nehus and late husband William (Will) Nehus of Scranton; his beloved grandchildren: Nick Summers, Kelsie Koch, Clinton Summers, Emily Morrow, Kaylee Birkner, Hunter Caldwell, and Karson Stephens; and his beloved great-grandchildren: Madelyn Summers, Kya Mann, Koben Koch, Gannyn Koch, Hendrix Koch, Atlas Summers, Russ Morrow III, Allie Morrow, and Abby Morrow.

Pallbearers are Chris Stephens, Nick Summers, Travis Caldwell, Hunter Caldwell, Michael Koch, Dennis Willmann, and Ricky Hixson.

The family will visit with friends prior to the service starting at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 11th, at the funeral home.
