David N. Smith, Sr., who resided in Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in Fort Smith. He was born May 6, 1938, in Easton, Pennsylvania. He was 80 years old. He was preceded in death by a son, David N. Smith, Jr.; two sisters and a brother, Barbara, Charlene, and Billy.
Dave was a service man for Fort Smith Refrigeration for many years and retired after 13 years as a custodian at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith. He was an U.S. Army veteran, a member of American Legion Post #0031 in Fort Smith, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 9th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Dr. Bud Reeves officiating. Burial will be at Island Cemetery, located northeast of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Zeta (House) Smith; a brother, Bobby Smith of Easton, Pennsylvania; a grandson, Joshua Smith and wife Jaci of Lavaca; and a great-granddaughter, MaryGrace Smith.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Hobbs, Kenny Hobbs, Richard Hobbs, James Hobbs, Cliff Wright, and John Fleck. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Horn and the Uplifters Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.
