Obituary

David Charles McGee, 66, of Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021, due to heart failure.  He was born April 21, 1955, in Maywood, California, to the late Charles and Willie Mae (Hill) McGee. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Maddyn Teague.

David, though passing entirely too early, lived a full life. David constantly answered the call to help his family, friends, and community.  David's career in the Oil and Gas Industry allowed him to travel the world, but he was quick to say his favorite trip was a company trip to Hawaii in which his wife was allowed to accompany him. They were able to swim all day and eat the most amazing fruit he had ever had. David was an avid cattleman and built his farm to serve as his hub for building a family grounded in faith and service to others. These traits will live on through his daughters who, through those values, grew up to be a nurse, teacher, and dental hygienist continuing to serve.

Outside of his family, David's services included but were certainly not limited to:

Multiple church committees, PTO, Band President, 4H leader, Farm Bureau Board of Directors, Fort Chaffee Fire Department & local volunteer fire services, Arkansas Junior Angus Advisor, countless youth sports coaching, and membership in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity (Oklahoma State University Chapter). Anything he could do to help provide his daughters with the future they wanted, he always went above and beyond to make sure they had the tools they needed.

David McGee's legacy will continue to live on in our hearts for generations to come through the values and ethics he instilled in his growing family.

The true metric of a man's legacy is not measured by the material possessions left behind, but the values and ethics that continue to live on through the people they touched during their life.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21st at First United Methodist Church in Charleston. Burial will follow at Mayberry Cemetery in Central City, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 41years, Delaina (Hodges) McGee; three daughters, LeeAnn Strickland and husband Jamie of Charleston, Leslie Holland and husband Matt of Lavaca, and Jill Teague and husband D.J. of Lavaca; six grandchildren, Gracie Strickland, Stella Strickland, Charlee Holland, Jaxon Holland, Presley Teague, and Camdyn Teague.

Pallbearers are Mike Ray, Jeff Ray, Steve Hamilton, Derrick Hodges, Juan Mondragon, Anthony Wood, and Rick Dooly.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 20th at the funeral home.
