David Eugene Blackwell of Lavaca, Arkansas, died Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at his home. He was born on August 1, 1967, in Maywood, California. He was 56 years old. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry W. Almond and a brother, James C. Blackwell.

For over 36 years, David was a maintenance supervisor for Tyson Foods, Inc. in Van Buren. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and he was a Christian.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Troy Vaughn officiating. The family will visit with friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. one hour prior to the funeral service. The body will be cremated following the service and burial of cremains will be at Cecil Cemetery in Cecil, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Elizabeth (Hilterbrand) Blackwell; a daughter, Bethaney Giles and husband Cody of Charleston; a son, Corey Malaska and wife Jordan of Guthrie, Oklahoma;  his mother, Sharon Almond of Ozark; a sister, Denise Smither and husband Larry of Fayetteville; and three grandchildren, Jestyn Blackwell, Rhyn Malaska and Levvy Giles.

Honorary pallbearers are Shelby Fitzgerald, Seth Taylor, Keith Rambo, Jeremy Brown, and Cody Ledbetter.

All services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
