Obituary

Curtis Lane Gipson who resided in Central City, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born November 15, 1931 in Central City to the late Melvin A. Gipson and Oda (Lane) Gipson. He was 79 years old.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dora Lou Gipson.

Curtis was a retired Heat & Air Technician for the Hawkins Company in Fort Smith for over 45 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Central City Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4th, at the Central City Free Will Baptist Church, with Rev. Raymond Chronister and Rev. Jackie Brown officiating. Interment will be at Oak Valley Cemetery, south of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

He is survived by one daughter, Glenda Reed & husband Greg of Lavaca; four sons, Curtis Gipson & wife Brenda of Lavaca, Kenneth Gipson & wife Julie of Hot Springs, Wade Gipson and Eddie Gipson, both of Central City; three sisters, Dovie Ladd and Lucille Taylor, both of California, and Beverly Neff of Lavaca; two brothers, Ed Gipson of Lavaca and Bob Gipson of Central City; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Hauser, Greg Reed, Dale, Logan, Jeremy, and Scott Chronister.

Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home.
