Obituary

Claude Lavern Dunn of Charleston, Arkansas, died Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. He was born on December 20, 1935, in the Lone Star Community near Greenwood to the late Paul Dunn and Mima L. (McCartney) Dunn. He was 88 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Jean (Wilson) Dunn; an infant daughter, Claudia Dunn; a brother, Leon Dunn; and a sister, Paula Dunn.

C.L. was a graduate of County Line High School. He served in the Air National Guard of Arkansas and National Guard of Oklahoma. For several years, C.L. was Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America in Charleston. He retired as manager of Southern Steel and Wire in Fort Smith and was a member Branch Church of Christ.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Buddy Corbell officiating. Burial will follow at Hampton Cemetery, located north of Branch, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by two sons, Kevin Dunn and wife Kathy and Keith Dunn, all of Charleston; four grandchildren, Joseph Dunn and wife Kate, Jennifer Dunn, Haley Dunn, and Anna Dunn; three great-grandsons, Kalan Dunn, Beckett Dunn and Everett Dunn.

Pallbearers are Josh Parker, John Clay Parker, Jason Fitzgerald, Mason Walter, Shane Adams, and John Phillips.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
