Police Chief Mona Robin Ellington of Paris, Arkansas, died Saturday, November 11, 2023, at her home. She was born on September 20, 1957, in Ozark, Arkansas, to the late Buddy Earl Hughey and Wilford Maxine "Snookie" (Johnson) Hughey. She was 66 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, infant Vickie Hughey and Carolyn Edwards.
Robin was a 1975 graduate of County Line High School. She was the current police chief of the Paris Police Department and member of First Baptist Church in Ratcliff. Robin faithfully served her community, supported, and dedicated her life to her staff and the residents of Paris. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15th at Paris High School Gymnasium. Burial will follow, with honors provided by the Paris Police Honor Guard, at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris. Officiating the service will be Pastor Kellie Sprick.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Steve Ellington; her daughter, Misty Dobbins and husband Blake of Paris; a brother, Roger Hughey and wife Lydia of Ratcliff; four grandchildren, Madison Justus and husband Roger, Maybree Gumpenberger and husband Derec, Keeton Adams, and Riley Dobbins; and five great-grandchildren, Stella, Rowan and Norah Justus, Millie Weaver, and Cash Gumpenberger, with one more on the way. She is also survived by her best buddy, her dog, Winston Vidale.
Pallbearers will be police officers of the Paris Police Department.
Honorary pallbearers will be all law enforcement officers.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14th at the funeral home.
Public viewing will be begin at noon on Tuesday.
