Obituary

Chester Lee McKnight of Charleston, Arkansas, died Monday, August 26, 2024, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. He was born on February 27, 1933, in Somerton, Arizona, to the late Samuel N. McKnight and Jane Sara (Young) McKnight. He was 91 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; two great-grandchildren, Parker James and Madeline Rose; a sister, Imogene; three brothers, Carl, James, and Frank; and a daughter-in-law, Shelly McKnight.

Chester was a retired maintenance man, and served the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His favorite past time was riding horses and being with his family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 3rd at Fort Smith National Cemetery, with military honors, under the direction Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be Rev. Buddy Corbell.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Norma (Hutchins) McKnight; two daughters, Kaffy Bronson of Springfield, Missouri, and Shelly Cramer and husband Michael of Bakersfield, California; four sons, Chester Lee McKnight of Charleston, Michael McKnight and wife Toni of Taft, California, James McKnight and wife Lorrie of Ozark, and John McKnight of Booneville; (17) grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Chester McKnight, Michael McKnight, James McKnight, Mikey McKnight, Eric McKnight, and Jeremy McKnight.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 2nd at the funeral home.
