Obituary

Cecil Leon "Sonny" Appleton, who resided in New Blaine, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in Paris. He was born June 27, 1938 in the Roseville Community in Logan County to the late Cecil Hayes Appleton and Mary Jewell (Webb) Appleton. He was 77 years old. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Faye (Johnson) Appleton; and two brothers, James Appleton and Jimmy Don Appleton.

Sonny retired from the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Clarksville. He also worked at the charcoal plant in Paris and milked cows for the Ray Vines Dairy Farm near Paris. He served in the Arkansas National Guards Unit in Paris, and was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Paris.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with the Rev. Neal Beam officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.

He is survived by four daughters, Stella Miller and husband Jerry of Paris, Betty Arnoult of Jonesboro, Linda Hawkins and husband Roger of North Little Rock, and Theresa Michalek and husband Rob of Henrietta, New York; one son, Charles Appleton and wife Jerri of New Blaine; two sisters, Mary Oman and Janice Galbraith, both of Minnesota; one brother, Bill Appleton of Paris; (12) grandchildren, (32) great-grandchildren, and (3) great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lindsey James, Tyler Stevenson, James Akers, Kyle Appleton, Brent Appleton, and Ashley Appleton.

Honorary pallbearer will be Buster Appleton.

Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home.
