Susie Shaw

Carolyn Sue Shaw of Charleston, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Charleston. She was born on June 29, 1959, in Fort Smith, Arkansas,  to the late Hildon Harlen Carter and Dora Christeen (Martin) Carter. She was 67 years old. She was preceded in death by her father, Hildon Harlen Carter; a brother, Brett Carter; and two sisters, Cynthia Johnson and Janie Langston.

Susie was a 1977 graduate of Lavaca High School. For several years, Susie was a registered nurse for Addus Home Care in Fort Smith. She was a very talented artist and displayed much of her artwork in her home. Susie was a pianist and played for many different churches througout her life. She loved to bake for her family and friends and will be extremely missed by everyone who knew her. Susie attended Enterprise Free Will Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Pastor Buddy Corbell officiating. Cremation arrangements and services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by a daughter, Jessica Shaw of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sons, Daniel Shaw and wife Lillian and Jonathan Shaw, all of Charleston; her mother, Christeen Davidson of Lavaca; a sister, Kim Riddle of Texas; three brothers, David Davidson and wife Laura of Lavaca, John Carter and wife Ana of Texas, and Clay Carter of Alabama; eight grandchildren, Ryan Wood, Nathan Shaw, Landon Shaw, Rachel Shaw, Aiyana Shaw, Case Shaw, Arya Shaw, and Freya Shaw; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
