Carolyn (Johnson) Pennington, formerly of Lavaca, resided in Fort Worth, Texas, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in Fort Worth. She was born June 17, 1945, in Muldrow, Oklahoma, to the late Roy E. and Ruby (Dobbs) Johnson. She was 76 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 5 years, Jimmy Wingfield; and her second husband of 43 years, Lionel Pennington; a step-daughter, Laura Gardner; a step-son, Brian Pennington; and a brother-in-law, Phillip Butler.

Carolyn grew up in Lavaca where she was a 1963 graduate of Lavaca High School.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She worked for Wortz Biscuit Company and Plastics Research in Fort Smith.  She retired from Life Touch in Tulsa, Oklahoma after many years of service to them.

There will be a family held  memorial graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 11th at Mayberry Cemetery in Central City.  Local arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

Carolyn is survived by a step-son, Mark Pennington of Florida; three step-grandchildren, Jenna Gardner, Kyle Gardner and Jessie Pennington; two sisters, Norma Green and husband Roger of Lavaca and Johnnie Butler of Fort Worth; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Roddy of Ada, Oklahoma; nieces, Meleia Zimmerman of Lavaca and Robin Korte of Newark, Texas; nephews, Stephen Green of Lavaca and Terry Butler of Haslet, Texas; and several great-nieces and nephews.
