Carroll W. Swain of Branch, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, August 16th, 2026, at his home. He was born on June 26th, 1946, in Oakdale, California, to the late James “Roy” Swain and Nina (Beason) Swain, making him 80 years old at the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Swain and Melvin Swain; and a grandson, Dallas Lloyd.
Carroll was a 1965 graduate of County Line High School. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, serving as a role model to everyone who knew him. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies both before and after his retirement from Whirlpool Corporation, where he worked for over 36 years in different roles, including as a tool and die designer. Some of his interests included competitive pistol marksmanship, camping, side-by-side riding, motorcycle riding, and cattle ranching.
At the heart of his life was his love for God. He prayed daily for the salvation and well-being of his family and friends. He attended Roseville Assembly of God Church, where he taught Sunday school. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Pastor Wayne Thacker officiating. Burial will follow at Caulksville Cemetery, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nelda (Grubb) Swain; two sons, Leroy Swain and wife Kristie, Curtis Swain and wife Lee Ann; a sister, Barbara Ratterree; and grandchildren Stephanie (Austin) Taylor, Anthony (Kim) Swain, Blake (Jillian) Swain, Jeremy (Stormy) Swain, Wesley Edwards, Michael (Hope) Lloyd, Renee (Emory) Honey, and Kendi Lloyd. He also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren, with another expected in October.
Pallbearers are Blake Swain, Austin Taylor, Anthony Swain, Jeremy Swain, Wesley Edwards, and Michael Lloyd.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19th, at the funeral home.
