Carol Haven Davis of Greenwood, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Pink Bud Nursing Center in Greenwood. She was born on September 22, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Lance Earl Butler and Helen (Barkemeyer) Butler. She was 81 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael Harlow Davis; and a sister, Candy Chapman.
Carol was born into a military family stationed with occupation troops in Germany after WWII from December, 1946 to December, 1948. After being transferred to Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, in 1949, Carol graduate from Fort Smith High School in 1960 and attended Westark Community College for one year. Carol moved to Bakersfield, California, and married Mike Davis. In 1985, Carol went to work for the Bakersfield School District as a switch board operator and retired from the Bakersfield Elementary School District in 1997. Along with her husband Mike, they volunteered in prison ministry and several other ministries. After the sudden death of her husband Mike, Carol moved back to Arkansas to be with her family. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Greenwood.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 21st at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be Pastor Ronnie Deal of the First Baptist Church in Greenwood.
She is survived by two daughters, Brigitte Foster and husband Randy of Greenwood and Michelle Erwin of California; three sons, Steve Nicely of Kansas, Aaron Barry and wife Karen of Texas, and John Davis and wife Cheryl of Texas; a sister, Nancy Butler of Florida; (11) grandchildren; and (19) great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Randy Foster, Aaron Barry, Mike Foster, Steve Nicely, Brantley Foster, and William Barnes.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked donations be made in Carol's name to Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800 Nashville, TN 37214-0800 or to Wycliffe Bible Translators, P.O. Box 628200 Orlando, FL 32862.
