Obituary

Buddy Ray Owenby, who resided in Cameron, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on November 15, 1956, in Barling, Arkansas, to the late Clell Owenby and Bernice (Peoples) Owenby. He was 65 years old. He was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Ray Owenby, a grandson, Brecken R. Owenby, a sister, Judy Hanes, and a brother, Randy Owenby.

In his early years in life, Buddy worked at Whirlpool Corporation in Fort Smith. He was a truck driver for May Plants in Greenwood, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. Buddy held the title of being "First Gentleman of Rock Island." He loved his family very much and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Buddy's urn will be placed at Mountain View Cemetery near Hackett.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carla (Cody) Owenby; two sons, Robert Heath Shores of Arizona, and Juston Keath Shores and wife Shawna of Rock Island, Oklahoma; a brother, Danny Owenby and wife Sue of Hackett; six grandchildren, Lauren Shores, Kaity Jett, Paisley Shores, Samuel Owenby, Dalton Shores, and Heather Shores.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Cremation Services in Fort Smith, 914 N. 32nd St. Fort Smith, AR  72903.
