Bobby Ray Uptigrove, age 78, of Scranton, Arkansas, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at his deer camp residence in Fountain Hill, Arkansas. Mr. Uptigrove was a native of Ashley County and a resident of Logan County for the past three years. He was a retired equipment operator. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, being at the deer camp, and all types of fishing, including commercial fishing. He also took great pride in taking care of his wife. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ila Jean Uptigrove; an infant son, James Roy Uptigrove; his parents, George Henry and Loree Colvin Uptigrove; four brothers, Thomas, Aubrey, Jerry and Ernest Uptigrove and two sisters, Geverne Johnson and Ruby Watkins.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Burial will be at Ware's Chapel Cemetery, located northeast of Scranton, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
He is survived by two sons, Billy Uptigrove and fiancé Tammy Spires-Westcotte of Springfield, Arkansas and John Michael Uptigrove and wife Sarah of Dover; four daughters, Bobbie Jean Thompson and Sheila Ray Flaherty, both of Scranton, Joann Clark and husband Bobby of Clarksville and Mary Jane Bowden of Midway; three brothers, Rodney Uptigrove and wife Lea of Sour Lake, Texas, Donnie Uptigrove of Forrest City and James Edward Uptigrove and wife Judy of Mabelvale; a sister, Mary Darlene Saunders and husband Gary of Hermitage; (19) grandchildren; (14) great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tom Flaherty, Sr., Tom Flaherty, Jr., Kevin Uptigrove, James Robert Thompson, Zachary Ward, and Hiley Carpenter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joey McQuade, Billy Uptigrove, Jr., Joshua Uptigrove, Justin Uptigrove, Shawn Bowden, and John Uptigrove, Jr.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home in Paris.
