Obituary

Bobby Jim Martin of Lavaca, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 24, 2022, at his home.  He was born on January 20, 1932, in the Arbuckle Island Community in Sebastian County, to the late Carroll and Myrtle (McCrae) Martin.  He was 90 years old.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley, Teddy and Billy Martin.

Bob worked for 35 years for Ward's Ice Cream in Fort Smith until they closed and then retired from White Dairy Ice Cream.  He loved to hunt, fish, gardening, spend time at the Lavaca Museum, and play with Westin and Ruby.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday November 28th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston with the Rev. Buddy Corbell officiating.  Burial will follow at the Island Cemetery, located north of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Ruthie (Johnson) Martin; his daughter, Terri Smothers and husband Tommy of Lavaca; a granddaughter, Brandi Green and husband Davin of Lavaca; two great-grandchildren, Westin and Ruby Green; his sisters, Christine Davidson of Lavaca, Willine Ellison of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and Artie Martin and Nancy Teague, both of Charleston; one brother, Harold Wayne Martin of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Cody and Mike Johnson, John VanGorder, Johnny, Kenny and Tommy Hobbs and Westin Green.

Honorary pallbearers are Shelly Johnson, Perry Wayne Johnson, Benny Teague, Bufurd Martin, John May, and Jack James.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday night at the funeral home.
