Billy Jack Stapleton resided at New Blaine, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, November 9, 2008, in his home. He was born February 4, 1931 in Logan County to the late Hugh Abner Stapleton and Myrtle Elizabeth Smith Stapleton. He was 77 years old.

Billy Jack served 21 years in service to his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Refinery Technician for the Standard Oil Company in Richmond, California.

He is preceded in death by his son, Billy Jack Stapleton, Jr. in 1977; his first wife, Mildred Lavaughn Stapleton and Edna Mae Stapleton in 2007; three brothers, Jimmy, H.A., and Hoyle; two sisters, Maxine Boggs and Ruth Janelle Stapleton.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the Elizabeth Hall Cemetery in New Blaine, with "Full Military Honors", under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.

He is survived by three daughters, Janice Tippit & husband, Jimmy Dale, of Midway, Arkansas, June Hess of Lowell, Arkansas and Judy Montague & husband, Bryan, of Benicia, California; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Pall Bearers will be the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

Family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home in Paris.
