Billy Max Haney, who resided near Ratcliff, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born October 5, 1940 in Charleston to the late Roscoe Haney and Lillian (Bennett) Haney. He was 74 years old.
Bill was a retired bricklayer and was owner and operator of Haney Masonry Construction Company. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard, a 1958 graduate of County Line High School, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Charleston. He loved raising quail and chickens and all kinds of animals. He could take scrap pieces of different material and build almost anything. He loved going to poultry swap meets and flea markets. He loved country music and watching old western movies. But most of all, he loved his family and he will be missed.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22nd, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Edward Ellis and his grandson, Rev. Steven Shotzman officiating. Burial will be at Coles Chapel Cemetery, located south of Branch, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara (Butler) Haney; one daughter, Missie Shotzman and husband Steve of Lavaca; two sons, Mike Haney and wife Melissa and Jody Haney and wife Darrica, all of Ratcliff; one step-son, Bill Maddox and wife Kim of Paris; five sisters, Johnnie Beason and Joann Hettinga, both of Russellville, his twin sister, Maxine Skeets of Charleston, Shirley Brotherton of Branch, and Sharon Casalman of Fort Smith; one brother, Rev. Roger Haney of Stilwell, Oklahoma; (15) grandchildren and (6) great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steven Shotzman, Jacob Shotzman, Patrick Haney, Colton Haney, Mason Haney, Andrew Gilliam, Brad Maddox, and Curtis Palmer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Waldron, Bennie Rausch, Alfred Dow, Haskell Casalman, Billy Bob Spicer, and Arthur Spencer.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home in Charleston.
