Obituary

Billy Don Ledbetter of Hackett, Arkansas, died in his home Monday, September 22, 2025. He was born on September 30, 1940, in Hackett, Arkansas, to the late Clarence William Ledbetter and Ruby Jean (Kelley) Ledbetter. He was almost 85 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Ledbetter.

Billy Don was a proud graduate of Hackett High School, where he stood out as an all-around athlete, especially known for his talent on the basketball court. In his younger years, he was very helpful to his brother-in-law Frank and his sister Jacklyn when they were establishing their wholesale bakery business.  He ultimately managed Little Dutch Boy Bakeries in Draper, Utah. He cared deeply for his brother Gary and his sister Jacklyn. Billy Don was the kind of person who made a lasting impression—if he liked you, you knew it.

He was also involved in other endeavors and was known to be authentic, charismatic, and a hard worker. He loved to camp, hunt, fish, and just about anything else life had to offer. Bill was good at so many things.

Anyone who met him never forgot him. He had an undeniable way about him. He genuinely had friends all over the country and would show up for a visit when least expected. Billy Don would walk through your door with his signature greeting and grin…what a memory. He was always drawn back to Hackett. He knew everyone, remembered everything and had an exceptional ability to remember birthdays and events. His mind was a steel trap.

He will be greatly missed at the annual school reunion.

He is survived by son, Rick Lipsey (Tianne) of Gardnerville, Nevada; sister, Jacklyn Jean Bakker of  Sandy, Utah; two grandsons, Bradley and Cody; and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to David and Sherri for caring, looking after, and spending time with Bill in his later years. There were others as well, thank you so much for being part of his life.

At Bill's request, no services will be held.  In his memory, please take a minute to enjoy the slide show linked to Bill's obituary on the Brotherton Brothers website.
