Billy Clyde Noel of Charleston, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Baptist Health Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on May 9, 1932, in Bradsfordsville, Kentucky, to the late Elmer Noel and Ruby (Koons) Noel. He was 92 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 71 years, Louise (Hartley) Noel; a sister, Margie Lathrum; and a brother, Glen Noel.

Bill was a retired U.S. Army veteran. He served 21 years in the U.S. Army and was a helicopter pilot during the Korean War and served two tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After returning home after the service, Bill was parts manager for Hug Chevrolet in Charleston, and was a retired Fire Chief at Fort Chaffee. He was a Mason, member of Charleston Lodge #155, and member of Retired Helicopter Pilots Association. Bill loved his community and had many friends. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Bill VanMeter officiating. Burial will follow with (Full Military Honors) at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by a son, Billy H. Noel and wife Alana of Branch; a daughter, Carolyn Moffet and husband Marvin of Caulksville; five grandchildren, Billy Joe Noel, Cody Carlile, Josh Noel, Chris Carlile, and Chelsea Noel; and five great-grandchildren, Jadyn Noel, Triston Carlile, Cooper Carlile, Coy Reames, and Ellianna Carlile.

Pallbearers are Cody Carlile, Chris Carlile, B.J. Noel, Josh Noel, Mike Neal, Trey Neal, and Chuck Parsons.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
