Obituary

Robert William "Bill" Howell, who resided near Lavaca, died Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. He was born April 1, 1943, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to the late William Roy Howell and Mattie Christine (Malone) Howell. He was 77 years old. He was preceded in death also by a brother, Harold G. Terry; and a sister, Jane Holley.

Bill was a retired painter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was an avid crappie fisherman, gardener, and attended Northside Baptist Church in Charleston.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27th, at Hickory Ridge Cemetery, located east of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be Bro. Dusty Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clide Lee "Pete" Howell; a sister, Evelyn Thompson of Jonesboro; two nieces, Earlene White and Heather White; and six nephews, Bobby White, Jeffrey White, Harold Terry, John R. Phillips, Stan Terry, and Terry Lee Lamberson.

Pallbearers are Heather White, Jeffrey White, Brooke Kuhn, Kaleigh Johnson, Macie Whitworth, Joey White, William White, and John Phillips.

Public viewing will begin Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
