To view the memorial website, click here.Bill Horne resided in Charleston, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, February 5, 2009, near Charleston. He was born July 14, 1937, in Lavaca to the late Haskell Oren Horne and Dessie Graham Horne. He was 71 years old.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lavaca. He was retired from the Public School Administration and teaching after 40 years. He was an advocate for small schools, along with making sure that every child had an opportunity for a quality education. He was proud to serve 9 years on the Arkansas Activities Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 7, 2009, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Michael Taylor, Rev. Curtis Smithson, and Rev. Delbert Hill officiating, burial at the Lavaca City Cemetery in Lavaca, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy, of the home; two daughters, Debbie Hoskins and husband Terry of Huntsville, and Jennifer Taylor and husband Roger of Alma; and three grandchildren, Matthew Hoskins, Kelsey Taylor, and McKenna Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Guy Fenter, David Pridgin, Jim Bridges, George Harrison, Claudie Eubanks, and Derek Law.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Charleston Super Stop Buddies.
The family will visit with friends Friday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
