Obituary

William Jesse "Bill" Eiland, who resided near Charleston, Arkansas, died Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. He was born on November 9, 1925, in Stewart, Mississippi, to the late Bryant Benson Eiland and America Lavada (Trainer) Eiland. He was 97 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 73 years, Emma Jean (Hunter) Eiland; a son, Bobby Eiland; three brothers and two sisters.

Bill worked 29 years and retired from Whirlpool Corp. in Fort Smith. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII and Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and loved crappie fishing and running trotlines. He enjoyed camping with his wife Emma Jean, family and friends. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Charleston. Bill loved his family very much and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 8th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Pastor Jeff Holland officiating. Burial will follow, with military honors from the U.S. Army Honor Guard, at Mayberry Cemetery in Central City, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by a daughter, Rita Johnson and husband Stephen of Greenwood; two sons, Billy Eiland and Lou Ann of Charleston and Jimmy Eiland and wife Monica of Fort Smith; a brother, Carl Eiland of Lawtey, Florida; (8) grandchildren, (15) great-grandchildren, and (2) great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Paul Eiland, Thad Eiland, Josh Eiland, Evan Eiland, Dalton Johnson, and Ashton Chronister.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
