Betty Jean Metcalf, 79, of Charleston, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in her home. She was born April 28, 1929, in Franklin County to the late Paul Brotherton and Viola Robins Brotherton. She was a retired self-employed bookkeeper, member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Rogue River, Oregon, member of the Potts Free Will Baptist Church, and the widow of Roy Gene Metcalf.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim Hobbs and Rev. Craig West.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue Boehm and Judy Carpenter, both of California; one step-daughter, Vicki Tate of Charleston; two sons, Don Foster and Michael Foster, both of California, and two step-sons, Michael Metcalf of Charleston and Brian Metcalf of Fayetteville. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Charleston.
