Obituary

Betty Lou Haney, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Crawford Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Van Buren, Arkansas. She was born November 17, 1935, in Sebastian County in Bloomer to the late Bill Phillips and Euna Kersh Phillips. She was 85 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Allen Haney, a son, Gary Lee Haney, and a brother, John Phillips.

Betty was a seamstress and worked many years at the Hill Company in Charleston. She also worked in the Charleston Senior Citizen Center cafeteria and the Charleston Public School cafeteria. Betty was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Branch.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20th at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be Bro. Tim Hobbs.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Reed of Fort Smith and LeAnn Reed of Van Buren; a sister, Billie Jean Chastain of Bloomer; four grandchildren, Josh Reed, Gayla Smithson, Taylor Reed, and Morgan Reed; and six great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Pallbearers are Josh Reed, Taylor Reed, Preston Williams, Phillip Chastain, and David Chastain.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
