Bernadette Lena Gomez, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Monday, October 24,2022, in Charleston.  She was born on May 25, 1945, in Edgware, England, to the late Thomas James Gomez and Mary Ann (Hoare) Gomez. She was 77 years old.

Bernadette graduated from Northside High School, attended Westark Community College, and retired from Sparks Hospital (Baptist Health) all in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Rosary service will be held Friday, October 28th at 9:00 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass service at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston, with Father Norman McFall officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by a daughter, LeaAnn Garcia of Paris, Arkansas;  two grandchildren, Yolanda Garcia of Summerville, South Carolina, and Shannon (Michael) Thornburg of Booneville, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren, Emily Dawn Thornburg, Erin Christine Thornburg, and Ella Waylynn Thornburg; and one bonus great-grandchild, Evan Stewart.

Pallbearers will be Russell Smith, Michael Thornburg, Drew Smith, Charlie Ketter, David Wewers, and Dan Sharum.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27th at the funeral home.
