Benny Ray Brewton of Charleston, Arkansas, died Monday, September 12, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on October 4, 1944, near Lavaca, Arkansas, to the late Lawrence Floyd Brewton and Emma (Williams) Brewton. He was 77 years old.
Benny was a retired truck driver for Tyson Foods, Inc. Benny was a true outdoorsman. He was an avid fisherman, being one of the best crappie fisherman in the country. He also loved hunting deer and turkey. He was a good friend to many and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Randy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Tate Cemetery, located west of Vesta, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by four sons, Michael Brewton and wife Sherry of Kibler, Brent Brewton of Fort Smith, Marlin Brewton of Charleston, and Harlin Brewton and wife Carrie of Paris; two brothers, Kenny Brewton of Lavaca and Larry Brewton of Barling; a sister, Darlene Brewton of Van Buren; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Josh Brewton, Jeremy Brewton, Austin Brewton, Landon Brewton, Jacob Brewton, Jalen Brewton, and Daylon Brewton.
Honorary pallbearers are Warren Hutchins, James Craig, Ronnie Shelby, Mike Bangs, Dennis Waggoner, Herman Verkamp, Ray Cameron, and Joe Flanagan.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
