Barbara Ann Nickell of Charleston, Arkansas, died Friday, April 14, 2023, in Charleston, Arkansas. She was born on July 24, 1942, in Charleston, Arkansas, to the late Joseph Rubin and Blanche Pauline (Law) Stafford. She was 80 years old. Barbara was preceded in death her parents; and her husband, Horald (Nick) Nickell.
Barbara was a graduate of County Line High School and a homemaker. For many years, she worked at local factories and loved her friends from these places, Vivian, Brenda, and Cathy just to name a few. She especially loved her cousins, Ann Chalmers and Billy Roberds, who were a constant support for her over the years.
Inurnment will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas with no formal service, but a celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 1 PM at her son 's home, 311 Hollywood Place, Lavaca, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Goodsell and husband Scott of Afton, Oklahoma; her son, Willis Nickell and wife Venus of Lavaca; a brother, J. W. Stafford and wife Carol of Magazine; eight grandchildren, Sierra Clark (Phillip), Tori Jones (Justin), Evan Jones (Aubrey), Rebekah O'Neal, Sarah O'Neal, Ryan O'Neal, Ryann Goodsell and Skot Covert; three great-grandchildren, Kenlynn Clark, Reagan Clark and Rhett Walker;.one nephew, Jerry Wayne Stafford (Holly) and multiple friends, family and neighbors.
The family would like to thank the staff at Greenhurst Nursing Center and Mercy Hospice staff, Robin and Jason, for making her last days so comfortable.
