Argus Arvene O'Neal "Loving Husband, Father, and Paw Paw," 87, of Caulksville, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, in Charleston.

He was born April 12, 1921, in Franklin County to the late Earl Clifton O'Neal and Jewel Shetterley O'Neal. He was a retired Dairy Farmer, Cattle Rancher, and Coal Miner. He was an Army veteran of World War II, served on the County Line School Board for twenty-one years, a Franklin County Justice of the Peace, served on the board of directors of Arkansas Soil Conservation and AMPI, a volunteer firefighter for twenty-three years for the Etna/Oak Bend Fire Department, and a member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lorene Reed O'Neal; and one brother, Earl O'Neal. Officiating the service will be Rev. Michael Bright and Rev. Bill Van Meter.

Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 6 , 2008, at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery (east of Peter Pender) with military honors.

He is survived by one daughter, Janice Phillips and husband, Gene, of Charleston; three sons, Jimmy O'Neal and wife, Jo Ann, Gary O'Neal and wife, Beth, and Tim O'Neal and wife, Gena, all of Caulksville; two brothers, Russell O'Neal of Lexington, TX, and E.C. O'Neal of Starkville, MS; ten grandchildren, Lisa Miller, Jeff O'Neal, Chris O'Neal, Jason O'Neal, Jon Mark O'Neal, Carrie Beth Scrivner, Monica Bateman, Scott O'Neal, Keitha Pfeiffer, and Katie Moore; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lt. Colonel Jeff O'Neal, Chris O'Neal, Jason O'Neal, Jon Mark O'Neal, Jamie Bateman, Greg Pfeiffer, Jeremy Scrivner, and A1C Scott O'Neal.

Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
