May 30, 1954 – December 18, 2024
Arthur (Art) Allison Schmidt, Sr., who resided in Lavaca, Arkansas, sadly passed away at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. He was 70 years old.
He was born in Richmond, California, to his loving parents Carl Henry Schmidt and Ruby Lee Dickson. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters.
Art attended both Pinole and DeAnza High School, in northern California. He worked as a carpet installer, until he retired in 2022. He was exceptionally good at playing baseball. He also loved golf, racing slot cars, darts, fishing, and puttering around the garage working on classic cars. He enjoyed westerns in film and novels. He was a cowboy at heart. His favorite choices in music were usually pure country or the oldies.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; children from his first marriage to Carol (Joe) Saiz: Jennifer, Arthur Jr., Bryan (Kim), and Carl; three step-children; brother, Raymond (Rickie); two sisters, Sharen (Michael) Loey and Luanda; seven grandchildren, and multiple cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Art will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
No services or memorial are planned at this time.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
