Alvin Louis Prieur, Jr., 75, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Fort Smith, surrounded by his children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin L. and Crystal (Hamilton) Prieur.
Born October 25, 1950, in Texarkana, Arkansas, Al was an only child, and the apple of his parents' eye. Al graduated Arkansas High School in 1968. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas in 1972 and a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering in 1974. He began his career in Little Rock, Arkansas, before moving to Fort Smith where he eventually partnered in the firm Hoffman-Prieur and Associates. He later opened Prieur Engineering and focused on Structural Inspections. Al was a big fan of music, especially local music, loved supporting Ducks Unlimited (although he wasn't a hunter) and was a fan of the St Louis Cardinals.
The family will host a visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 1st, at Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
Al is survived by three children, Stephanie (Gary) Passmore of Huntington, Arkansas, Jennifer (James) Woolsey of Greenwood, Arkansas, and Trey (Alvin Louis) Prieur III of Paris, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Jennah (Seth) Lawson of Booneville, Arkansas, Lorrel (Hunter) Thompson of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Brandon Woolsey of Springdale, Arkansas, Cooper (Jessica) Passmore, Emily Woolsey and Brooklyn Woolsey of Conway, Arkansas, Brett Woolsey and Ella Woolsey of Greenwood, Arkansas; and three great-grandchildren, Colton Lawson of Booneville, Arkansas, and Zion and Shiloh Thompson of Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
